When you'd be better off elsewhere

Anyone expecting high-octane stage productions, a late-night club scene, or anywhere for children. Seabourn is genuinely quiet after about 10pm, and if you wanted a livelier ship you will find that lifeless rather than relaxing.

What the ships are actually like

Seabourn Ovation and Encore are the two you are most likely to see sailing from Britain. All-suite, ocean-view throughout.

Evenings have real shape to them, they just aren't loud. The Constellation Lounge runs live piano before and after dinner; the Grand Salon hosts small, cabaret-style shows, vocalists, comedy, dance, rather than a Broadway-scale production; and on the right night there's Evenings Under the Stars, a poolside dance party with a live band, or a quieter drink at the open-air Sky Bar. It's a floating boutique hotel's idea of a night out, not a floating city's.

"Quiet evenings" isn't a criticism here, it's the whole design

Quiet and nothing happens read very differently once you are aboard, and it is worth knowing which one this is. Evenings here revolve around conversation rather than volume: a pianist before and after dinner, a small cabaret show instead of a production number, late drinks under the stars with people who have been most places you are thinking of going. Nobody is trying to fill your evening for you, which is either the best thing about the ship or the thing you will miss, and there is no middle ground.
