Who Saga Cruises genuinely suits

Guests who want the most stressful part of any cruise, getting to the port, taken off their hands entirely: a private chauffeur car collects guests from home addresses within about 75 miles of the departure port (a shared nationwide chauffeur service covers guests further out), and the fare is genuinely all-inclusive, drinks, gratuities, specialty dining, Wi-Fi and shore excursions all included.

When you'd be better off elsewhere

Anyone under 50. This isn't a soft demographic lean, it's an enforced booking rule: at least one guest in the cabin must be 50 or over, a companion may be as young as 40 but no younger, and under-18s aren't accepted at all.

What the ships are actually like

A genuinely small, boutique fleet: Spirit of Discovery and Spirit of Adventure, both under 1,000 guests, both all-inclusive.

The car is not there because anyone thinks you need help

The included chauffeur gets described as though it were an accessibility measure, which is both patronising and a poor description of what it is. It is a luxury. You lock your own front door, get into a private car, and do not handle your own luggage again until it is standing in your stateroom. The most stressful hours of any cruise, the motorway, the long-stay car park, the queue with the cases, simply do not happen.

One thing to check before you plan around it: the private car applies within roughly 75 miles of the departure port. Further out it becomes a shared nationwide chauffeur service, which is still a car to your door, but not the same car to your door alone.
